Natural Fulgurite (lightening glass) ring
Several years ago we came across a large deposit of something weird in some fine, soft washout sand. Curiosity got the best of us and for some reason we kept digging to reveal a fractal sequence of glassy, sandy tubes, fused with the surrounding rocks and dirt. We had heard of Fulgurite before, but had never actually seen some. It’s made when lightening strikes the ground and melts the sand into glass. Some of the pieces we found are like large tubes lined with blue and green glass. At the bottom of the find, we found melted nails, which must have been the conductor for the lightening strike, and also several of these little glass beads... they appeared to have melted from the cores of some of the tubes and range in color from amber yellow to green, taking its color from the minerals in the sand around the strike. This little bead is the natural texture and shape just as it was found in the ground. Hand carved and cast in silver. Size: 6.75 Each piece is handcrafted and one of a kind.
